Anthony P. Apuzzo of North Haven and Barefoot Bay, FL, passed away at the age of 85 on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the CT Hospice, Branford. He was the husband of the late Lillian DeMartino Apuzzo. Born on May 28, 1924 to the late Ferdinando and Rosina Cavaliere Apuzzo, he was one of eleven children. He retired from the Town of North Haven as an Assistant Highway Superintendant and was also a member of the Local 478 Union of Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator. Anthony led a full life, hunting, fishing, crabbing, clamming, hunting for mushrooms and gardening. He will be missed by his family and friends from both Connecticut and Florida. He was the father of Paul (Cheryl) Apuzzo of North Haven and Ret. North Haven Police Officer Fred Apuzzo of Wallingford. Grandfather of Michael Apuzzo of New York and Paul Apuzzo, Jr. of North Haven. Anthony leaves behind his sisters, Louise (Harry) Desimone and Rose Zammataro both of East Haven; brother, Pasquale (Patsy) Apuzzo of New Haven and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Sylvia Borelli, his loving companion of many years. The family would like to thank all the staff and friends at The Villages of Mariners Point, East Haven and the Connecticut Hospice, Branford for all the care he received in his final days.
His Funeral Procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. Tuesday morning at 10:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 11:00. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 8:30 to 10:30 am.
