William J. Sallak, 81, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Masonic Health Care, Wallingford. He was the husband of Selina Fielder Sallak. Born in New York City on March 9, 1929; a son of the late Joseph and Pauline Kryc Sallak. William obtained his degree in engineering from Cornell University and had worked for the former Winchester’s U.S. Repeating Arms for 25 years and Sikorsky Aircraft for 12 years. He later had worked as a Sexton at the United Church on the Green in New Haven. William was a member of the New Haven Camera Club; did ceramics at the North Haven Senior Center; was a Mason in good standing; was a member and worked on numerous committees at the Faith United Methodist Church in North Haven. Father of Kenneth Sallak and wife Lisa of Wallingford, Barbara Midolo and husband Carmen of North Haven. Grandfather of Lisa D’Orlando and husband David of North Branford, Elaine Horn and husband Michael of Meriden. Great-grandfather of Ella & Joey D’Orlando.
Funeral Services will be conducted in the Faith United Methodist Church, North Haven on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 10:30 am. Inurnment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church, 81 Clintonville Rd., North Haven, CT 06473. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with Mr. Sallak’s arrangements. |
